Shawarma Wrap (Middle Eastern Spiced Chicken or Beef Wrap)
Ingredients
For the Meat: 500g boneless chicken thighs or beef strips, 3 tbsp yogurt, 2 tbsp olive oil, 3 cloves garlic (minced), 1 tsp cumin, 1 tsp paprika, 1 tsp coriander, ½ tsp cinnamon, ½ tsp turmeric, ½ tsp salt, ½ tsp black pepper, Juice of 1 lemon.
For the Wrap: 4 large pita or flatbreads, 1 cup lettuce (shredded), ½ cup tomatoes (chopped), ½ cup cucumbers (sliced), ¼ cup onions (thinly sliced), ½ cup garlic sauce or tahini sauce.
Instructions
1. Prepare the Marinade: In a bowl, mix yogurt, olive oil, garlic, cumin, paprika, coriander, cinnamon, turmeric, salt, pepper, and lemon juice. 2. Marinate the Meat: Add chicken or beef strips to the marinade and mix well. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours (or overnight for best flavor). 3. Cook the Meat: Heat a pan or grill over medium-high heat. Cook marinated meat for 5-7 minutes per side until golden and fully cooked. Let it rest for a few minutes before slicing. 4. Prepare the Wrap: Warm pita or flatbread on a dry skillet or oven for a few seconds. 5. Assemble the Shawarma: Place lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, and onions on the bread. Add sliced meat on top. 6. Add Sauce & Wrap: Drizzle with garlic sauce or tahini sauce. Roll the wrap tightly. 7. Serve & Enjoy: Cut in half and serve warm with extra sauce or pickles.
