Chicken Shawarma Sandwich (Middle Eastern Marinated Chicken Wrap)
Ingredients
For the Chicken Marinade: 2 large chicken breasts (cubed), 3 tbsp yogurt, 2 tbsp lemon juice, 2 tbsp olive oil, 3 cloves garlic (minced), 1 tsp paprika, 1 tsp cumin, ½ tsp cinnamon, ½ tsp salt, ½ tsp black pepper.
For the Garlic Sauce: ½ cup mayonnaise, ¼ cup yogurt, 1 tbsp lemon juice, 1 clove garlic (minced), ¼ tsp salt. For the Wrap: 4 pita breads, 1 cup lettuce (shredded), ½ cup tomatoes (chopped), ½ cup cucumbers (chopped), ¼ cup pickles (sliced).
Instructions
1. Marinate the Chicken: In a bowl, mix yogurt, lemon juice, olive oil, garlic, and spices. Add chicken cubes and mix well. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight. 2. Cook the Chicken: Preheat a grill or pan over medium-high heat. Cook the marinated chicken for 5-7 minutes per side until fully cooked and golden brown. If using an oven, bake at 400°F (200°C) for 20 minutes. Let the chicken rest before slicing. 3. Prepare the Garlic Sauce: Mix mayonnaise, yogurt, lemon juice, minced garlic, and salt until smooth. 4. Assemble the Wrap: Warm the pita bread, spread a generous amount of garlic sauce, then layer with grilled chicken, lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, and pickles. Roll tightly into a wrap. 5. Serve: Cut in half and enjoy with extra garlic sauce or a side of fries.
